Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you’re, unfortunately, my only hope!?
After an excessively long absence I’ve regained the free time and focus necessary to begin contributing once again to this site. So…
I couldn’t wait to push a pointed commentary over the “new” Disney Star Wars project ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi‘. If there was any chance at redemption beyond the last decade of (mostly) utter disappointment I believed this Ewen McGregor led series held our last, best hope.
Alas, although it may include lots of big-budget shiny and a solid cast, it does not include much fresh or any real stakes. Following this older, grizzled Kenobi through misadventures with other familiar characters we know survive (unscathed) for future films leaves little to worry, or to care about.
Disney, once again, misses an opportunity. Why aren’t we getting stories without predestined must be rosy outcomes about people without preordained must be rosy fates? A literal galaxy of limitless possibilities reduced to these limited, fan-serviced “tales on rails”.
Thankfully, if I desire stellar far, far away adventures the original trilogy (episodes 4-6) faithfully awaits. Or, perhaps, the dozens of other (actually) new, and potentially better, distractions being released seemingly every week, almost everywhere. Peace out.
